This is a full day class where you will learn how to make fully lined pencil pleat curtains by making your own full sized curtains.
With a maximum of 2 people in the class, you have plenty of time and space to make your curtains. You will each make 1 curtain complete from start to finish, and I will make the second during the course alongside you so you have a pair to take home and put up at your chosen window.
Curtain size is limited to a 2 drop curtain width (for windows up to 3m wide) and a length of 2.5m. Most windows are smaller than this
During this class you will learn…
- How to measure up for your curtains
- What is a pattern repeat
- How to order the correct amount of fabric and lining
- Choosing the right material to use for curtains
- Cutting the fabric to match the pattern repeat
- Hand sewing the hem
- Making mitred corners
- Inserting curtain weights
- Sewing in a lining
- achieving a level even length
- Sewing in Pencil pleat curtain tape
When booking this class, you will need to book a 1 hour session in advance to talk through how to measure your window and order your fabric. This can be done online or in person at the studio. You will also be emailed a worksheet and guidance to help you to source your fabric and other materials.
Your chosen fabric and matching thread needs to be purchased in advance and bought with you to the class
Pencil pleat tape, curtain weights and lining (Ivory or Ivory Blackout) is available to purchase at the Crafters&Makers Studio on the day of your class or you can choose to purchase your own beforehand
Course costs including pre-course meeting and worksheets – Materials NOT included
You will need to have experience of using a sewing machine with confidence before attending this class.
