The After School Sewing club is for a mixture of sewing abilities,

Taught by Jane Gordon – Advanced DBS checked tutor with experience of teaching young people how to sew for more than 10 years.

and Sarah Wyles – Advanced DBS checked textiles and art teacher.

Depending on your sewing experience, projects will be chosen to develop new skills.  We make items such as pencil cases, bags, cushion covers and simple dressmaking projects to learn different techniques such as zips, button holes, bias binding, Neat and tidy hems and seams, and how to follow sewing patterns.

Tuesdays 4 .30 – 6pm – Beginners

Suitable from age 8+ who have never sewn before or have a little bit of experience and want to know more.

This course will be run by both Jane and Sarah – giving us chance to teach you many sewing skills from scratch and build your confidence.

This course will be ideal to attend throughout the full school year from September to July. but can be booked in half term blocks of 6 weeks.   Each term you will develop your sewing skills and work up to making a variety of different things starting with simple makes and textiles crafts and moving on to making your own clothes and learning how to follow sewing patterns.  By the end of the third term you will be feeling confident to take on any sewing projects and move into one of our more advanced sewing clubs.

There will be a maximum of 10 students per class and 2 experienced tutors.
