I (Jane Gordon) have always worked in schools and community settings alongside being a costume maker and sewing teacher. I have worked on large and small projects. These range from one-off, drop-in workshops in theatres and museums to 3 years long Artist residencies in Early Years settings.
I have been lead Artist on a number of projects which involved groups of Artists and teaching professionals with projects that developed over several months or years including delivering creative training and mentoring to new artists and early years practitioners.
My own Creative training and experience working with children has come through a number of training courses after completing my degree in Furniture and Product Design which include:
1 year volunteer training programme in Creative playwork training: working with 5-12 year old children with and without disabilities
Volunteer training course in Communication through the creative arts working specifically with people with learning disabilities
CACHE Level 2 and level 3 certificate in playwark and NVQ level 3 Playwork
Same Sky Community Arts: Celebratory Arts training course – 1 year
7307 stage 1 adult teaching certificate (and PTLLS top up to level 4).
Creative Partnerships ‘Bridging the Gap’ training day
Below are some of the projects that I have been involved in over the years. All projects came about through planning, design and discussions with each setting and they grew through the process and the ownership and direction of the children.
