My work as a costume/prop maker began in 1999 after I finished my degree in 3D Furniture and Product Design. I already had a knowledge of how to use a sewing machine having been taught by my mum as a very young child. She bravely allowed me to use her sewing machine when I was about 7 and the love of sewing has never stopped.
My knowledge as a designer/maker which I developed through my degree set me in good stead for beginning my costume career making character costumes. From there, I learnt more and more as I spent many long hours in the sewing work rooms making for Theatre, carnival, film and West End Shows.
Here are some examples of the kind of costumes, props and other sewing projects that I have worked on over the years.
