The Artstage Project at Mascall’s School worked with a number of visual artists, dancers and musicians. Each of us worked with groups of children to create a carnival procession.
My role in this project was to facilitate the making of flag style banners and large costumes.
The theme of the carnival was celebrating Art Around the World.
The children designed their flags and made them using ripstop nylon, bonding layers of fabrics, highlighting them by using paint, collage and marker pens. The flags were then mounted onto Bamboo structured poles.
The children designed their costumes and made them using cardboard, layering paper mâché for 3D detail, tissue paper for colour and texture. They then completed them by painting them with acrylic paints.
