Paper Making

Making paper by hand is a sensory, eco-friendly project with uses techniques that haven’t change much for thousands of years.

I have taken paper making resources into nurseries, primary schools and brownies and scout groups and at open events.  We have explored the process of making paper, discussed where paper comes from and how it can be recycled.  This project works well in reasonable large groups as there are stages and processes that can be divided up into group tasks forming a ‘production line’. The children take on a role then move along the line to try out different parts of the process.

Given more time, this project can grow into book making and different paper can be made using found materials in our natural environment.

Some schools and groups have kept the resources for a longer period after my sessions to continue with their project in eco-clubs
