I spend a lot of time in the kitchen cooking and creating dishes for family and friends and doing cookery workshops. Sustainability and low waste are really important to me, so when I saw this zero waste pattern on the Crafters and Makers website I had to download it and give it a go. It looked so creative and intriguing and No Waste too! I liked the idea that it was adjustable and could be shared by my taller daughter too.
I chose a lovely stripey fabric. It was great fun following the instructions on the pattern and drawing on to the fabric to create the tessellated pieces like a jigsaw. The instructions and diagrams were really clear and easy to follow. I made the apron in two sessions( I’m not a very speedy seamstress) and really enjoyed the sewing experience. I am so chuffed at the result! The darts give a great fit at the bust; easy to slip on and off; the stripes worked so well with this design making my apron quite quirky and it has pockets- what more can a cook want! Its going to be zero waste aprons for Christmas presents all round from me this year!
